Dance and Stories
Theatre Sagohuset is working with a project called Dance and Stories, for children and youth with disabilities during the school holidays . During a couple of weeks per year, we do theater and dance all together; our professional actors and dancer with the children. The last day we play a performance and invite audience, friends and family. The projects leaders are teachers, actors and musicians working at Teater Sagohuset . We are doing simple improvisation exercises in which we weave in storytelling and story creation. The dance focuses on the joy of movement and rhythm. Anyone who wants to can participate in all the exercises based on each and one`s own opportunities ! We will provide refreshments , and the activity is for free. Are you interested in participating ? MYRITH - INDIA

Since 2005, theatre Sagohuset has been having a partnership with the Indian group Natana Kairali and in 2012 aid was granted for the project MTRITH. The project aims to strengthen and develop cultural cooperation between theater Sagohuset and Natana Kairali and other partners in Sweden and India and to contribute to poverty alleviation and an equal and sustainable society, and to create mutual expertise in creative and artistic work with children and young people, and especially people with disabilities.

The project duration is 2012-2013, and began with a visit by Natana Kairali in Lund in May 2012, where they also showed their performance "Sita". The collaboration includes seminars and workshops on work in dance and drama and other cultural activities for all children and young people with disabilities.
The group kutiyattamgruppen are a part of Natana Kairali-a theater and research center where they engage in more of the traditional and classic theater and dance traditions of Kerala. The performers are trained by the legendary Kutiyattam actor Guru Ammannur Madhava Chakyar. The center was founded in 1975 by Gopal Venu which since its inception has been their artistic leader. Natana Kairali is also a meeting place for both the traditional and the contemporary theater. Performing arts from around the world gather there to do workshops, seminars and exchange experiences between their respective traditions.

KIRSTEN - About the right to choose your own life

Project Kirsten is part of a multi-year project in which theater Sagohuset in different ways and with different groups work on issues regarding honor and freedom. The project is a collaboration between Theatre Sagohuset and national organization GAPF (Never forget Pela and Fadim) and the group Tänk Om in Malmö.

Today approximately 70,000 young people aged 16-25 years are experiencing that they can't freely choose who to marry . It turns Youth Administration's survey " Married against their will ." Many young people also believe that they would be punished by their parents if they turn out to be gay or bisexual . These are just some examples of how young people today experience that they have no right to decide over their own lives.

With the project Kirsten Theatre Sagohuset wants to show, highlight and delve into the various issues that affect the individual's right to their own life choices. In the public discourse it is said that the individual is free and invioable. At the same time society is showing an inability to defend and protect young people who are victims of oppression and violence, when they want to make their own life choices in conflict with traditon and culture of their parents and relatives.

The target audience is high school students and staff.

The project consists of:
* Theatrical performance "Kirsten", either played on tour of the school's premises or at Theatre Sagohuset in Lund.
* Follow-up work for schools
